How To: Glowing Skin

Your skin is so so precious and it needs to be protected and kept hydrated. I absolutely love pampering myself with new skin routines and I’m quite lucky to have immersed myself in researching ways to eternal beauty in the form of gorgeous skin. I even conducted a science experiment testing the effectiveness of face moisturiser vs body moisturiser, involving jelly and a very long report that I handed in for a project. The fact that there is a growing awareness of the dangers of the sun on our skin and yet people still don’t consider putting a bit of sunscreen on before braving the power of our Australian sun baffles me. I’m not a skin expert but I’ve definitely experienced a lot of ups and downs for my skin and found what works best for me and what doesn’t work at all. I had to search long and hard through my large collection of products - testers that turned into a lifelong love and new finds - to arrange my favourite skin products to share with you, so here they are.

1. La Roche-Posay Athelios XL Ultra Light SPF50+

It's not easy getting into the habit of putting sunscreen on before you go out - it just doesn't seem like something good for your morning routine. The key thing is to make sure your sunscreen is good for your skin, with non-comedogenic properties. This means that it won't block your pores and it is super light on your skin - honestly, this is one of my favourite parts of my skin routine.

2. Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm

You'll simply never find anything that smells this good. (And it feels so nice!) Also I would so recommend going into one of their stores and asking an expert, the experience is quite magnificent and they even serve you up some tea! Aesop has certainly got it right + don't we all love supporting a wonderful Australian brand.

3. Lanolin Allover Cream from Lanolips

As soon as I get out of the shower I am applying this Allover Cream. It's amazing and it hydrates my skin deeply and quickly. Lanolips can be found in heaps of different places like Mecca, Priceline, David Jones and also in the US and UK and its 100% natural and cruelty free!

Loved this little statement from their website:

LANOLIN - WHY IS IT SO GOOD?

BECAUSE IT WORKS. The molecular structure of lanolin mimics human skin lipids, making it the most skin-compatible ingredient around. More so than any other natural or synthetic ingredient in skincare. We call it 'Natures Wonder Moisturiser™'

4. Dr Lewinns Renewal Serum and Day Cream Moisturiser

These two were freebies but as soon as I tried them I was hooked! I don't know much about the brand but they have a wide variety of products for different skin types and goals with some massive skincare breakthroughs.

5. Bio Oil

I absolutely love that Bio Oil can be used for anything! Not only do I use it on scars but also as a replenishing oil for my face. It helps regenerate dehydrated skin, uneven skin tone, stretch marks and scars. I'd highly recommend this for anyone who is searching for a glow through oils.

6. Sukin Skin Care

I have a wide range of Sukin products, masks, moisturisers, scrubs and serums and I love them all! Sukin is another Australian brand, established in Melbourne that taps into environmentally sustainable and affordable natural skincare. The whole package!

7. Also! Drink lots of water. I know everyone always says it but it actually works! The majority of your skin regime is what you put into your body.

I hope that gave some insight into different products or inspired you to take care of the only skin we've got!

When in Copenhagen

On the 26th of June, I landed in Copenhagen, full of excitement. The thrill of being in unknown territory was rushing through me as the sun set, even though it was nearing midnight. And as we drove to my temporary home, I had no idea I would fall so deeply in love with this city.

I was staying in the heart of the city, in streets speckled with cute café’s and designer stores, just a short walk away from Nyhavn. The closeness made it a simple task to settle in and get to know the people of this gorgeous country, and I soon found out that they were indeed the happiest people in the world (it's now fact).

The colours of Copenhagen blew me away, with bold oranges and yellows becoming my new favourite sight, and through my lens everything about the city looked as picturesque as it did with the naked eye.

The cool air (that my Aussie heart was very unprepared for) led me to do a lot of layering, and borrowing! High neck ribbed tops under vintage t-shirts, tucked into denim jeans all tied together with a nice belt was my go-to outfit, thrown together by a couple of generous friends!

The minimalistic nature of the city contrasted with little traditional or classic elements. We would be walking through main streets and then we’d take a turn and end up in a cobblestone courtyard, surrounded by a timeline of Copenhagen’s architectural history. I am left constantly thinking of these backstreets I explored, finding gems of the past in between modern architecture.

Quiet moments were enjoyed by the water, in the Royal Danish Library, flicking through pages of words I couldn't quite recognise. The timeless elegance of the castles let my mind wander, and I thank the peaceful essence of this time for drawing me away from my thoughts now.

Du har rørt mit hjerte - Copenhagen, you have indeed touched my heart and my mind in ways I deeply thank you for and you were the most wonderful beginning to my life-changing trip.

Splendour Recap

Splendour in the Grass 2017 was simply incredible. With an amazing line-up, great food and an unimaginably vibrant vibe. I spent three days in the Byron hinterlands exploring passions and growing as a person, along with listening to my favourite musicians perform their hearts out. It’s hard to even start to capture the essence of such a wonderful festival, but hopefully these little snippets of pure happiness can transport you to the precious hours between the 21st and 23rd of July.

NUMBER ONE : THE MUSIC

Live music is phenomenal. There is nowhere else in the world that I feel as comfortable as I do whilst in the crowd of a concert. Lucky for me, I spent these three days listening to 10+ artists a day, taking in every second. I’ve tried to nail down my favourite Splendour tracks into a little playlist, where each song is now treasurable to me, as it holds a very unique memory. Enjoy!

NUMBER THREE : BYRON

Enjoying delicious breakfasts and exploring the streets was a lovely start to the mornings, before heading off into the hills. Indulging in anything from avo smashes to chocolate and coffee macarons at 10 in the morning (thanks Byron Fresh for that one!) The sun was out and so were the people of Byron, with high spirits, the little town was buzzing with excitement. I visited some gorgeous cafes, like Mokha, where I enjoyed INCREDIBLE pumpkin bread and delicious pancakes. Along with Sunday Sustainable Bakery, handing out free love and the legendary Byron Fresh with wonderful fritters, brekkie rolls and photos below!

Thank you Byron, you were amazing.
